Erik : Dolikephalites dolius ( 28/09/2006 à 18:51 ) In my word ,this is Macrocephalites(Dolikephalites)dolius(m),M.gracilis have far more ombolic |
Hervé : () ( 28/09/2006 à 20:13 ) Hello, this is what Thierry calls Macrocephalites macrocephalus (m) transient dolius. You're wright, mine is close to some of the specimens he figures. It may be closer than to his M. gracilis. But the differences in the umbilicus width are very very delicate... |
Erik : dolius or gracilis ( 29/09/2006 à 21:21 ) In the ratio umbilic to diameter -O/D (D.gracilis) =0.3,(D.dolius)=0.2 on the base for 5 speciment of D.dolius and 5 speciment of D.gracilis(for Cracow-Czestochowa Upland). And difference stratigraphic position D.dolis -subzone B.bullatus-M.macrocephalus,D.gracilis zone D.gracilis in the Submediterranean Province |
Hervé : () ( 01/06/2007 à 20:00 ) All specimens of gracilis measured by Thierry (1979) have a ratio O/D between 0.12 and 0.21. His dolius are between 0.12 and 0.21 too. So, it cannot be discriminant. Maybe your biometric parameters are specific to Polish populations, though 5 specimens cannot be considered as a population. Regarding the compression of my specimen (that you cannot see since I have not put such a picture) E/H approximatively around 0.74, it would better be a gracilis. Thierry's dolius have a E/H ratio between 0.80 and 1.15. |
